Inspired by Japanese manga and movie posters, this work is painted on the type of washi paper that is usually used for shoji screens. Dr. Lakra is known for making murals that use collage techniques to blend elements of contemporary culture and artistic traditions. The artist, who was born and raised in Mexico, says he feels a great affinity for the Japanese animation and movies that were popular on Mexican TV, and he rekindled that feeling when he visited Japan for the first time, as an adult. He now fills shoji screens, which have a wall-like function in traditional Japanese houses, with scenes from Japanese subculture in a style similar to the graffiti seen on walls in Mexico.
