This work was created during an event for the exhibition “MOGI Kenichiro, hana, KAKUTA Mitsuyo, ARAKI Nobuyoshi: Four Views of the Collection of the Yokohama Museum of Art.” Araki selected 100 models from over 1,200 applicants. On July 6, 2008, the 100 people were photographed in the museum’s Grand Gallery. Araki used two rolls of film for each model, and then chose just one photo to exhibit. The unnamed faces have been blown up to larger-than-life size and lined up in rows, with each of the facial expressions being the result of brief but rich communication between photographer and model.
