This brick tower is dotted with different holes, including a chimney. Various things emerge from the holes in different rhythms—toothpaste, dripping liquid, billowing smoke. One wonders what could be going on inside, but it’s hard to tell from the outside. Kaneuji Teppei has been creating three-dimensional works (sculptures) that combine familiar household objects, figurines, or materials from DIY stores in ways that make them resemble something else. In a similar way, this work combines familiar elements from our daily lives in a way that makes them appear mysterious.
