Two boys are playing a game in front of a building. You can just feel the tension in the air between these two fierce competitors. But what really catches the eye is the light falling on the ground and the building around them. It acts like a spotlight, illuminating the boys and forming a kind of stage for their game. Note also the light shining on the building immediately behind the boy who is bending down. Doesn’t it look like angel wings on his back? Fukuyama Hideharu was an amateur photographer who went to the United States before World War II. With his friends in Los Angeles, he became involved in the movement to promote photography as an art form.
