The left leg at the back extends diagonally upward, with the sole of the shoe touching the wall, while the right leg is slightly bent at the knee, with the toes touching the surface of the mirror. It looks as if she is touching shoes with another doll beyond the mirror. The left leg in the foreground is stretched out, extending beyond the lower right edge of the image, while the right leg hangs in the air from the knee down. The tip of the shoe seems to touch the surface of the photograph itself, just as the tip of the right foot in the back touches the mirror. It seems that the world of the doll in the photo, with its two sets of legs, the world inside the mirror, and the world of the viewer on the outside looking in are all connected as one.
