Organic shapes are depicted in various colors against a blue gradation. This is a work of tapestry showing the sea, sky, and a kite fluttering in the wind. The technique involves creating the design with the weft by wrapping it around the warp. Born in India and starting his career as a designer, Naik-satam was able to complete all steps in the process himself, from drawing the design, to transferring, yarn dyeing, and weaving. In the same way that a painter uses a canvas, or a sculptor uses stone and wood, Naik-satam says he weaves thoughts with thread. Consistent in his work is the idea that humans are part of the great cycle of nature. This work is one of five pieces that were created specifically for the third floor corridors of the Yokohama Museum of Art.
