This work was exhibited in the 17th "Artists Today" exhibition at the Yokohama Civic Art Gallery. The theme of that exhibition was "Wall," and this piece was arranged across the high walls of the gallery.
The structure of the work is simple. Fifty-two wooden planks, all painted with black lacquer, were joined together with nuts and bolts into three separate structures and laid out on the floor. Then the three structures were leaned up against the walls. After the exhibition was over, the structures were disassembled and the 52 boards stored. In other words, this work is constantly moving between these two states: an assembled work and 52 planks. Behind a quiet visage lies a highly dynamic process.
